Plants employ many methods to disperse their seeds for reproduction. The seeds leave the plants and travel on a long journey to grow in distant locations. This workshop will introduce the various methods of seed dispersal, such as a free ride, temptation of food or the development of wings.

Butterflies are the second largest order among all insect groups. They are extremely diverse in terms of morphology and colour. What is the secret of their survival strategy? This workshop will tell you all about the senses and habits of butterflies and the common butterfly species in Hong Kong.

Beyond the Naked Eye: Microorganisms
From puddles to the depths of the vast ocean, microorganisms are everywhere. Their family is enormous, with a wide variety of species, exhibiting diverse forms and survival strategies. In this workshop, we will introduce the classification of microorganisms and explore their importance in maintaining our ecosystems. You will also have the chance to create a personalised microorganism drawing, capturing the wonders of these tiny life forms!

A Glimpse of the Hong Kong Cetaceans and their Health Assessment
Have you ever heard of the two resident cetacean species in Hong Kong waters? Using digital camera and drone, our lab could identify individual dolphins and conduct visual health assessment. In case of any stranding, we would use various revolutionary techniques to "dissect" the carcass in order to reveal their biological health, life history and cause of death.

Flight is an essential ability of most birds, assisting them in finding food and escaping from predators. Birds also have other distinctive body features that help them adapt to various environments around the world. This engaging workshop will explore the body features of birds, such as feathers and beaks, and introduce some common bird species found in Hong Kong, to unveil the secret of birds' survival strategies!

What challenges do they face when living in Hong Kong waters? This workshop will introduce the species of sea turtles, their living habits, health conditions and how to protect their habitats.

Buzz, buzz, buzz, honeybees build hives and make honey. Although bees and wasps may look alike, they are not the same. In fact, the groups of bees and wasps are huge and they have diverse living habits. Surprisingly, the majority of these species live alone. In this workshop, we will explore fun facts about bees and wasps, and design a comfortable house for solitary bees.

Flying with Black Kites
The workshop will introduce the flying secrets of birds, focusing on their body features and feather structure. The speaker will present different aspects of the black kite to show the audience the unique features of this common bird in Hong Kong.

Dolphin Story Reading Workshop
Not as lively and charming as the Chinese white dolphins, the mysterious finless porpoises in grey have been secluding themselves in Hong Kong waters. During the day, they are elusive and more active at night. In order to conserve the threatened finless porpoises, researchers investigate their occurrence and habits in different ways. Come and join the workshop to know our neighbours at sea through precious videos and hands-on origami!
