(Concluded) Knitting Smart: Revolutionising the Textile Industry through AI
Professor Jeanne Tan from the School of Fashion and Textiles at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is invited to introduce the research and breakthroughs of the "Intelligent Textile System" in this lecture. This innovation is the world's first Polymeric Optical Fibre (POF) knitted textile. Functioning as an AI-powered contactless gesture recognition system, the textile allows wearers to interact through hand and body gestures. With its integration of computer vision and deep learning technologies, this intelligent textile provides diverse applications, ranging from fashion and interior design to rehabilitation. Additionally, it can be mass-produced using industrial flatbed knitting machines, making it a scalable solution for various industries.
This lecture is a one of the extension and education activities of the special exhibition "Innovative Pathway: Hong Kong's New Era of Industry".
