Laboratory Programme for Seniors (for registered non-profit making organisations in Hong Kong only)
To let senior citizens experience the joys of science experiments and recognise how fun and simple learning about science can be, the Hong Kong Science Museum warmly welcomes organisations that provide services to senior citizens (must be a registered non-profit-making organisation in Hong Kong) to apply for the "Laboratory Programme for Seniors".
Black Gold Story
Petroleum is very important to the modern society, it is even called the "black gold" that is a valuable resource in our daily lives. Before we can use the petroleum that is deep in the ground, what should we do with it? What kind of everyday objects are made from petroleum? In this laboratory class, seniors can engage in hands-on experiments, understanding the formation, exploration and use of petroleum as well as the contribution of petroleum to the modern society. Through these experiments, seniors can gain intriguing scientific knowledge about petroleum.
Each session lasts for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The carefully tailored programme consists of two parts, a laboratory class and a guided tour to the special exhibition, both led by our experienced docents. We hope that through these programme, our participants will have a fun and meaningful time.
