Laboratory Programme for Seniors (for registered non-profit making organisations in Hong Kong only)
To let senior citizens experience the fun of science experiments, the Hong Kong Science Museum cordially invites elderly service centres and organisations (which must be a registered non-profit making organisation in Hong Kong) to apply for the "Programme for Seniors". Each session lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This carefully tailored programme consists of two parts, a laboratory class and a guided tour to the exhibition hall, both led by our experienced docents. We hope that through this programme, our participants will have a fun and meaningful time. Organisations may choose one of the following laboratory class topics.

Uncover the Secret of Air Pressure
Air pressure is closely related to our daily lives, such as the ear discomfort experienced when flying on an airplane or rooftops being lifted by typhoons. In this laboratory class, seniors will take part in multiple hands-on activities related to air pressure, including making cold water boil spontaneously and inflating a "non-inflatable" balloon. Through these activities, participants will learn how air pressure affects our everyday lives and understand the underlying scientific principles.
Oil King's Laboratory
Petroleum is extremely important to modern society and serves as a vital resource for societal development. How can we make good use of this petroleum that lies dormant deep underground? What everyday items in our lives are made from petroleum products? In this laboratory class, seniors can take part in various experiments to learn about the formation, extraction, and applications of petroleum, and to understand its contributions to modern society and the related scientific knowledge.
