The Hong Kong Science Museum is launching "Docent Recruitment and Training Programme 2025". Interested members of the public are welcome to participate in the training course to join the docent service. Details are as follows:
Deadline of Application: 25.4.2025 (Friday) 12:00 noon
Duties:
1. To conduct group guided tours and introduce exhibits
2. To assist in organising and conducting extension and education activities
Eligibility:
1. Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 or above; and
2a. Completed studies in Form 7 science curriculum or new senior secondary curriculum (with at least two science subjects in Grade E or above in the HKCEE or Level 2 or above in the HKDSEE); or
2b. Completed University or tertiary institution science/ education related subjects graduate or currently studying science/ education related subjects at a university or tertiary institution; or
2c. Five-year working experience in popular science activities; and
3. Good command of Cantonese; proficiency in English and/or Putonghua is an advantage; and
4. Keen to communicate, exchange and share knowledge and experience in science; and
5. Experience in teaching or promoting popular science activities is an advantage.
1. Free admission to the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum
2. Docent will receive honorarium for each 1.5-hour service session
3. Invitations to preview programmes or exhibitions organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum and/or Hong Kong Space Museum

Candidates who are not invited for interview via email within two weeks from the application deadline (25 April 2025) may presume their applications unsuccessful.
After interview selection, only candidates who have successfully completed at least 80% of the 6 training sessions, and achieved a pass in the final assessment will be invited for our museum docent placement. All training sessions will be conducted in Cantonese and will be held at Friday nights or Saturdays from August to October 2025.
