The carved lacquer is one kind of the lacquer crafts. The craftsmen first painted lacquer layers on an article repeatedly to form a thick lacquer layer, then carved on it to create relief decorations. To repair the dented parts, conservators need to repainted scores of lacquer layers and repeat the above procedures.
