Each year the Natural History Museum in London produces a new exhibition “Wildlife Photographer of the Year”, based upon winning entries of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. This well-known competition is organized by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum. Since its launching in 1964, the competition has become a major event for wildlife photographers around the world. The exhibitions have toured over 55 countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Now, the Hong Kong Science Museum has the privileges to present this prestigious exhibition again after the last one held in 2003. The exhibition features over 200 winning entries of the years 2006 and 2007. They are chosen from over 50,000 striking and memorable images taken by amateur and professional photographers from over 70 countries. The photographs combine artistic perspective, technical expertise and natural beauty of animals across arid deserts, amidst soaring mountains, through dense forests and below open oceans. Of particular interest to most visitors are photo captions that describe the subject animals and the background in which the photographs are captured.
The exhibition celebrates the splendour, drama and variety of life on Earth and hopes to inspire new generations the message of environmental conservation.
Our appreciation goes to the British Council for their support in promoting the "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition.
