Life in the Air: Masters of the Sky
To survive in the air, those capable of flying push the laws of physics to the edge to meet the varied challenges of flight. This programme shows heavyweight whooper swan uses a water runway to gain the speed it needs to take off, whilst the peregrine falcon relies on pop-up feather spoilers to hit 200 miles an hour. Hummingbirds’ amazing flight control is the root of their high-octane lifestyle whilst the albatross's nose holds the surprising key to long distance flights.

Life in the Air: Crowded Skies
This programme explores the different ways animals struggle to survive in their aerial environment. In the skies of California, hummingbirds race each other using their speed to create sounds louder than their vocal calls. The female phorid fly takes precision flying to the next level to lay her eggs amidst fire ants. King birds go to extraordinary lengths to defend their territory through pure aggression and cunning tactics. In the jungle of Ecuador, bats and moths fight a deadly arms race in the night.
