Hong Kong Science Museum Docent Training Programme

The latest round of Docent Training Programme for the Hong Kong Science Museum is launched. Interested members of the public are welcome to join the training course to be one of our docents. Here are the details:

Duties:
1. Group guided tours and introduction to exhibits (Targeted at students, senior citizens, people with disabilities, groups and general public)
2. To assist in arranging and conducting extension activities
3. To facilitate education activities for special exhibitions

Eligibility:
1. Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 years old or above
2. Completed studies in Form 7 science curriculum or new senior secondary curriculum (with at least two science subjects in Grade E or above in the HKCEE or Level 2 or above in the HKDSEE), or equivalent
3. University science undergraduate or currently studying science related subjects in a university or tertiary institution or have more than five years of work experience
4. Good command of Cantonese; proficiency in English and/or Putonghua is an advantage
5. Keen to communicate, exchange and share knowledge of and experience in science
6. Experience in teaching or promoting popular science activities an advantage

Benefits:
1. Free admission to the Hong Kong Science Museum
2. Docent will receive honorarium for each 1.5 hour service session
3. Invitation to preview programmes or exhibitions organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum
4. Invitation to Docent Service Award Presentation Ceremony, each award recipient will receive a certificate of recognition

Application form can be obtained at the information counter of the Hong Kong Science Museum or download from here.
Please submit the completed application form, with copies of official transcripts/certificates to the Hong Kong Science Museum by post or by hand (Address: Development Unit, 2 Science Museum Road, Tsimshatsui East, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Please mark "Recruitment of Docents" on the envelope) on or before the application deadline.
Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Candidates who are not invited for interview via email within two weeks after the application deadline may presume their applications unsuccessful.

Application Deadline: 15 December 2017

Selected candidates who have successfully completed the training course and passed our assessment will become a docent of the Science Museum. The training sessions will be conducted in Cantonese and held in the evening from February to April 2018 (The training comprises of 6 sessions, around 3 hours per session).
